Marriage and Family Counseling Class

COURSE OBJECTIVE: To equip and enable students to faithfully handle the Word of God in helping people in preparation for marriage, marital issues and children and family issues.

READING:

Mack, Wayne. Preparing for Marriage God’s Way

Chapell, Bryan. Each for the Other

Tripp, Tedd. Shepherding a Child’s Heart

Tripp, Paul David. Age of Opportunity

 

ASSIGNMENTS: (20% of final grade)

For each of the assigned books write a 1-2 page paper interacting with the material presented by the author (not including Mack’s book.  See Premarital Project.)  Don’t simply summarize the contents, but give me your reactions and how the material has changed you or can be useful in counseling.

 

PREMARITAL COUNSELING PROJECT: (40% of final grade)

Using Wayne Mack’s Preparing for Marriage God’s Way, look up all the Scriptures and answer all the questions in this book which you’ll be leading couples through.

 

EXAMS: (40% of final grade)

A Midterm Exam and Final will be a major portion of your grade.

 

COUNSELING OBSERVATION:

Videos for counseling observation will be watched and discussed in class.
